Best Dystopian Young Adult Novel of 2018

We are all drawn to a good dystopian book, and with the recent advent of the Young Adult Fiction realm, we now have access to great dystopian books that are shorter and easier to read than some of the classic dystopian novels. These YA books combine the elements we love in storytelling and put them into an easily digestible format that allows for pleasure reading that doesn’t feel like a homework assignment. And sometimes that’s just what we need. Here is the best new Dystopian Young Adult Novel of 2018. Enjoy!

Warcross

In this dystopian future, millions of young adults try and escape reality by playing and completely immersing themselves in the online game Warcross.

But it’s more than just a favorite pastime: people illegally bet in the game in order to make money. For some, it is the only way to scrape a living, for others, it is just as addicting as the game itself.

But not everyone can be a winner. Emika is a bounty hunter that tracks down those that owe money from this illegal gambling ring. And she’s good, too.

When she unwittingly hacks the game’s yearly championship and somehow finds herself participating in the tournament itself, she becomes a worldwide star.

But she gains attention too. The game’s creator reaches out to her to find out how she hacked the system and offers her a job to close the security loophole.

She accepts and soon finds out that there is much more to the game than she ever thought, and it’s not all good. Not even close.

This is a great dystopian futuristic YA novel because it is a very believable plot (think Warcraft on steroids here) and we already see the crazy addictive effects of video games today.

Lots of fun and I hope it turns into a series!
