Scariest Book of 2018

If you haven’t read a good horror novel this year, then now is the time to check one out! This is the best scary thriller in recent times and you are sure to find a good read in this short-list. And when it comes to the horror fiction genre, there are many more authors than King and Koontz! Let us know in the comments below if we missed a scarier one!

The Troop

Every year a group of Boy Scouts venture into the wilderness for a camping trip, to test their skills and become men. But this year’s trip is much different—right from the start. Something just isn’t right, and this is apparent to the lead Scoutmaster.

The first night of the trip, a man stumbles from the middle of nowhere and into the troop’s campsite. The man is deathly thin and has the appetite of a starved beast. It soon becomes apparent that something is amiss about this man—he is infected with something, the likes of which the world has never seen.

As the plot unfolds, it seems that the infection may not be an accident at all. And as the troop starts to fall, one by one, the odds become increasingly stacked against the survivors. Not only are they surviving from the infected, but they must also face the elements of nature, and ultimately themselves.

This is a very original plot that is very scary to read while alone in the night. I highly recommend not doing so, unless you want to sleep with the lights on that night!

Equal parts thriller and modern horror, it captures elements of Young Adult Horror fiction as well as more adult themed thriller classics.

Check this book out if you like zombie horror movies or would like to see The Lord of The Flies novel be re-written with an infectious beast prowling the island along with the young boys of that novel. Except much, much scarier than could have been imagined that long ago.

You know when Stephen King says a book scared the hell out of him, then it must be scary! That is the quote he said about this book.
